Disclaimer: This is MY interpretation of this placement. Other placements, aspects, and degrees can affect the intensity of this placement. Enjoy!
Whenever I think of this placement, I think of a room filled with misty mirrors and fog.
This is Neptune—the planet of illusions, spirituality, escapism, and the unseen.
The vibe of this placement:
Elusive, flowy, dreamy, fantasy.
Appearance:
Appearance can be dewy/oily skin. I always think of the Kewpie dolls when I think of Neptune in the 1st House.
Upon an initial meeting, these people can appear to be one way and turn out to be the total opposite. This can be due to people unconsciously creating false images or ideals of these natives in their minds.
The Boggarts from Harry Potter are a perfect example of this placement because these natives take the shape and form of their environment energetically (positive or negative).
Another great example of this shape-shifting ability is Marilyn Monroe and her ability to transform from plain old Norma Jeane into the glamorous Marilyn Monroe within the blink of an eye.
These people take the form of things easily, like water.
Most of the time, people end up being disappointed with reality when their projections and fantasies are not met by those with this placement.
Gifts of this placement:
Possessing this placement can allow one to get away with a lot due to being perceived as naive, docile, or innocent.
On the other hand, this placement can make one very creative, whether it be in music, acting, performance, etc. If they possess other harmonizing placements, they are able to bring these creative ideas into the material world for personal or financial gain.
Shadow sides of this placement:
People perceive, project onto, or misunderstand you entirely.
Can be perceived as naive or ditsy. This can lead people into thinking that they can manipulate or dominate this placement easily.
Those with this placement (especially women) may have to work a little harder to prove themselves (intelligence, academically, work ethic, etc.).
People may assume that you live a life of ease and that things come easily for you.
No sense of who you truly are, imposter syndrome, or a lack of confidence.
This placement can have you wandering aimlessly through life with no sense of who you are and what your purpose is. You may have to dig much deeper when it comes to knowing who you are and why you are here.
Many people will try to tell you who you are and what you should do… (I know that this can be very frustrating.)
Of course, I must mention the escapism that natives of this placement tend to slip into.
Like water, this placement can absorb the energies of those around them very easily and may internalize the negative projections placed onto them.
Having this placement can draw you to substances that offer a temporary escape from this harsh reality.
Ways to master or lean into this placement:
First things first: know who the TF you are on your own terms. If you don’t know, others will surely tell you, which can lead to feeling lost and confused.
Learn to discern when and when not to lean into this placement. Being perceived as naive or innocent is not always a negative thing.
Lastly, this ties in with the second point: learn when to play into people’s fantasies to your advantage (with caution, of course) and when to stand up for yourself!
Songs I associate with this placement:
- Stranger — Jhené Aiko
- I Can’t Help It — Michael Jackson
- Oblivion — Grimes
Every astrological placement comes with nuances.
Wise up.
